MEET DEMI
I’ve always been drawn to the art of storytelling.
Over the years, I’ve built my practice across performance and production - from performing at the Hanoi Opera House, to producing a short film with Opera Australia that premiered in Lucca, contributing to the documentary Descent, and singing on the score of Diving Into The Darkness.
But alongside my career, I kept noticing artists saying:
”Funding? There’s none.” 💀
”Don’t bother making the [insert creative project]” 🙅🏼♀️
”You can’t be creative AND produce at the same time” 😬
What began as ungatekeeping grants and opportunities on Instagram to people I knew who deserved them, grew into this Collective - a resource I wish I had earlier, designed to build a pathway for artists who make their own work.
I still work as an artist, producer, teacher, and filmmaker. But as I grow, it’s important to me that I send the elevator back down.
A more sustainable arts industry will never come from gatekeeping, it will come from innovating pathways together.
