Working for ‘exposure’ that never arrives. Getting your name taken off the press release for a project. Watching someone else profit from your sweat equity. Missing out on funding because you didn’t know where to look, or worse? Your network gatekept the opportunity. 🥲
I know this because it has happened to me.
There will come a day where every artist feels empowered to fund their dreams. Where we stop relying on our friends for their unpaid labour. Where we all have the resources to develop our work and bring it into the world.
