Young Artist Program
The Opera Australia Young Artist Program offers professional training within Opera Australia, allowing emerging artists to draw on the expertise of Opera Australia’s community. Artists join Opera Australia on full-time contracts for 18-months to gain the skills, opportunities and support needed to launch successful global careers. The program prepares Young Artists for the international stage through overseas experiences and collaborations with global partners.

Sir Robert William Askin Operatic Scholarship
This travelling scholarship supports the professional development of a man or male under 30 with outstanding ability and promise in opera singing. The scholarship is awarded biennially to a young man or male candidate who has outstanding ability and promise in opera singing. The scholarship is worth $30,000, payable in two instalments of $15,000 over two years.

The Lady Mollie Isabelle Askin Ballet Scholarship
This travelling scholarship supports the professional development of young Australian citizens under 30 with outstanding ability and promise in ballet. The scholarship is awarded biennially to a candidate who has outstanding ability and promise in ballet. The scholarship is worth $30,000, payable in two instalments of $15,000 over two years.

The Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarships
The Marten Bequest Scholarships offer talented young artists the chance to explore, study and develop their artistic gifts through travelling either interstate and/or overseas. In 2026, the scholarships will provide financial support for the disciplines of acting, instrumental music, painting and poetry. Scholarships are each worth $50,000, payable in quarterly instalments over two years.

Emerging Artist Grants
The Ian Potter Cultural Trust offers grants of up to $15,000 to individual artists. The Trust funds nationally and supports artists working across the spectrum of the arts, from traditional art forms through to experimental mediums. The Trust primarily supports projects with structured professional development and networking opportunities in an international context.
